Vegetarians need love too! The exotic spice profile of the Day Wines Johan Vineyard Pinot Noir buddies up with Lebanese or other eastern Mediterranean food very well. Falafel and hummus with za’atar, brightened up with a fresh fattoush and brought to a savory depth by some grilled vegetables or Halloumi will take the wines fruit up a notch all the while drawing out those aforementioned spice notes.

Salmon and Pinot Noir are akin to each other on the dinner table, so fillet a Sockeye, give it a short brine and drop it on a hot grill with a mix of apple and cherry wood to bring another level of fruity smokiness to the wine. Keep it simple though! Let the flavors of the fish, Pinot and woodsmoke do their magic.

The deep, brambly fruit and firm tannins the Johan Vineyard produces hold up well to gamey meats such as Elk or Venison, accentuated by a reduced wild berry sauce and a touch of rosemary or sage. Alternatively, forgo the berries for Oregon black truffle, and after giving the meat a good sear, deglaze the pan with a splash from your glass and finish the dish table side with fresh truffle shavings.
